The Single Most Powerful Decision to Change Your Life

Written by Gabi on . Posted in Buddhism, Energy, Light, & Self-Healing, Enlightened Learning, Inspiration and Appreciation

My heart is beating. I’m excited to find the soul space to write to you, again. So happy and excited and yet my heart beats from another space. A space that is rising to the challenge of observing my own beatingnessness. (Yes, I made that up!) I’ve been listening to a lot of Eckhart Tolle lately, mostly A New Earth, and in it he speaks of our ego’s need to reactivate the pain body, over and over and over again. And he talks about seeing it being activated and how, if we can create a quiet space from which to observe it, we create what he calls Presence. And so, I am in Presence as I see this, this extraordinary ability to hold on for just this second, and just this one, and just this one, ever now.

I am in Presence as I observe, “Oh look, Gabi dear, you are judging,” or “Oh note, darling Gabi, you are not in the present,” or best of all perhaps is, “Knock, knock, oh lovely one, you are feeding a pain body and you feel your heart beating like mad, and you feel that tightening in your chest, and you feel your chest and throat and sinew exploding inside, and now, darling, now, precisely now you stand before a blessed opportunity to learn and grow and observe the powerful work of an ego and a pain body trying to make you a victim, and you, dear one that you are, child of God, and full of light, you, dear one, you, and only you, can decide to observe or fall. Decide love.”

And I have. The  Single Most Powerful Decision to Change Your Life

Originally, I was going to write to you the three most powerful decisions to change your life, and then, as I wrote, I realized that they all come down to this one, this very singular one. And so..

The Single Most Powerful Decision to Change Your Life is this:

Creating Presence

No matter how we may wish it otherwise, the naked truth of the matter is that we only have now, and this now, and this now, and this now too. We can wish for the past or plea for the future, but the Now is all we have tangible, malleable, and living in our hands, right now. And so, it is Presence that makes it real, makes us alive in this moment, and not missing it because our minds wander somewhere else. Very easy to say, but infinitely harder to do. I know.

Living Mantras of Greatest Light

I spoke to a dear friend about something I was facing and she told me how in Buddhist traditions of facing death, you repeat a mantra so that it is heard, spoken, felt, breathed, lived, be-ed a part of the very essence of that which you are. I wrote an entire inspirational book of mantras called Breathe and I believe in them with all my heart, and yet, sometimes you need an angel a few feet away from your emotional issues to remind you of Who You Are, what you are able to do, and how might be the most light-filled way to do it.

My mantra: Right now, I witness love and magic unfolding before me.

And God has it made all the difference! I look for the love and magic also in the annoying and obnoxious, in the ego, in those dark places, and in those corners where God knows all I could ever do in the past was judge. Now, I look for love and magic, and the funny, miraculous thing is that I ALWAYS FIND IT. I look at people who previously pissed the hell of me, and I try to see them as a child, just trying to get attention, or wanting to be loved, or wanting someone to tell him/her, “Yes, child, your thoughts are precious and yes, I deeply and dearly want to hear what is on your mind, for your thoughts and feelings and ideas are brilliant. Namaste [literally: I bow or see the space you occupy], and Namaste again, child. I see you, and yes, I love you.”

And I’m seeing that more and more and feeling compassion and love and understanding and even more love where previously there was little to none. Right now, I witness love and magic unfolding before me. Can you?

In every person, plant, animal, moment, in all of them, including the darkest ones, there is magic and love. Can you feel it?

What mantra would bring you light, friend? How do you bring Presence into your world? Tell me, loves, tell me, or stay silent. I love you all the same. I do. I do. I do.

Love,

Me

This reminds me of something I read today about a wise king In India who sent his two court officers away to explore faraway lands. The king had observed that one officer was arrogant and self-absorbed, while the other was generous and open-minded.

After months away, both men returned. The king asked the generous officer what sort he people he had found, and he replied that people were generally hospitable and kind-hearted. The arrogant officer scoffed and said the places he visited were full of liars, cheats and barbarians.

The king laughed because, unknown to the officers, he had sent them both to the same place.

“We see as we are” said the Buddha.

This is what I often see in Thai expat forums. I often think I’m in a different country when I read what some have to stay.

By the way, this was in the book Vagabonding by Rolf Potts.

I haven’t been here for ages! I used to be a follower, I wonder if I’m not receiving notifications since this site crashed? It was this one wasn’t it? Anyway yes, agreeed, live in the present, but I have so much planning and plotting to do for future events, I’m always trying to stay several steps ahead of myself. I’m not sure how that works. I think I’m spiritually inept as well as social media inept.

Oh Gabi I just love Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth and I love what you are saying. It has been years since I read that book and here you are to remind me of it. So true it is easy to read and say, but to live in that space does take effort. To keep your mind on the right track and in the NOW! Thank you for this reminder and I shall think of a mantra too. When I do, I will share.

i simply cannot wait to hear your manta love. yes, i do believe that that is why i created this site, and groups of light and love, and clean your soul therapy groups around the globe, to constantly be reminded of that which i want TO BE. to constantly read and write and interact with fellow souls who will inspire each other to keep reaching/being in the light. NoW! love you so much heidi. thank you for taking the time to comment. i do believe that THIS conversation and these conversations around the campfire of light are the most precious to me. love you, gabi

    Hey Gabi,

Very lovely food for thoughts indeed. For me, it is really about not giving up. Yes, can that be considered a presence?

Some of my colleagues hate me for that while others cherish it. Well, I consider that is something unique about me and yup!

    Just my 2 cents 🙂

reginald. oh, what a dear. thank you for stopping by, reading and sharing your thoughts. what a treat. not giving up is HUGE. omg, half the time we are ready to just throw in the towel and if you can hold on, even when you feel like you can’t that is huge! that is so unique to you dear reginald and sadly, some people cannot contain that frequency in you. it is a powerful one and sometimes threatens others for they feel truly in danger from that for that but you know, you know, you know, you are loving yourself and doing what is right for our life, with light in your eyes. and that’s what matters. i love your two cents reginald. i hope you come by more often and leave your thoughts. thank you dear one, gabi
